Pakistan Sees Surge in Dengue Outbreak and Fatal Incidents

Following 72 new cases reported during the last 24 hours, the health department in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is ramping up efforts to combat a rising dengue outbreak, with Secretary Health Adil Shah urging public support. Currently, there are 372 active dengue cases in the province, with 760 cases reported overall. The department has distributed 80,000 diagnostic kits, 300,000 mosquito nets, and various insecticides to control the spread. Unfortunately, two deaths have been linked to the disease.

In a separate incident, seven labourers were shot dead by armed assailants in Panjgur district, Balochistan. The attack occurred in the Khuda Abadan area, where militants targeted a construction site. Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the killings, emphasizing that the state will pursue justice against the perpetrators, believed to be linked to the outlawed Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA).

Additionally, a helicopter crash in North Waziristan resulted in six fatalities and eight injuries. The Mi-8 helicopter was transporting employees of Mari Petroleum when it encountered engine failure during takeoff. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident.
