Pakistan: Sindh Assembly Launches Anti-Child Beggary Initiative
The Sindh Assembly announced an anti-child beggary drive, led by the Sindh Child Protection Authority in collaboration with provincial police, to rescue children from forced begging, a multi-million-rupee business, Dawn revealed in an article on Saturday.
Social Welfare Minister Tariq Ali Talpur stated that rescued children are being housed at the Shelter Home for Destitute and Orphan Children in Malir, which can accommodate 200 children. The children receive essential services, including shelter, food, healthcare, and education.
Talpur also highlighted the establishment of 30 child protection units across the province to tackle violence and exploitation against children.
