Rising Violence in Pakistan Claims Life of PTI Founding Member Dr. Shahid Siddiqui
Dr. Shahid Siddiqui, a founding member of Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, was killed in a shooting incident on Friday, August 2, in Valencia Town, Lahore.
According to Dawan News Agency, Dr. Siddiqui was attacked by unidentified assailants while leaving a mosque and later died from his injuries at a hospital. The authorities have not yet released information regarding the attackers or the motive behind the murder.
In response, PTI has condemned the killing and called for justice. This incident highlights a disturbing trend, as violence in Pakistan escalates, with recent months seeing a rise in terrorist attacks and armed confrontations, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
The recent killing of two police officers protecting local judges further emphasizes the urgent need for enhanced security measures and effective counterterrorism strategies to combat the growing threat of violence in the country.
