Pakistan Army Kills Militant Commander in Counterterrorism Operation

In a joint operation, the Pakistan Army and counter-terrorism police killed three militants, including a high-value target terrorist commander, in the country’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Wednesday, Anadolu Agency reported.

The clashes erupted during an intelligence-based operation on the outskirts of Peshawar, resulting in the deaths of two Pakistan Army personnel, including a captain, and two Counter Terrorism Department officers.

The slain commander, Abdul Raheem, was involved in numerous terrorist activities, including the killing of two army soldiers in May.

The latest incident comes amid a rise in terrorist attacks in the region, with 60 people killed in 69 terror attacks last month, according to a think tank report. Pakistan has seen 478 militant attacks from January to June, resulting in 474 deaths and 539 injuries.
