Pakistan: 3 Killed, 7 Injured in Mardan Explosion
A remote-controlled explosive device planted on a bridge in Mardan district detonated on Friday, killing 3 people and injuring 7 others, including 2 police officers, Dawn Newspaper reported yesterday.
According to police, the blast targeted a passing police van in the Takhtbhai area. The explosion also damaged a rickshaw, resulting in the 3 fatalities.
Sadar Superintendent of Police Khalid Khan confirmed the casualties, stating that “unidentified terrorists” were behind the attack near the Jalala bridge. The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Mardan District Police Officer Zahoor Barbar Afridi said the device was detonated via remote control. Authorities have launched an investigation to identify and apprehend those responsible for the deadly incident.
