Pakistan: Deadly Blast Kills 7 Soldiers in Tribal Region

A bomb attack on a military truck in northwestern Pakistan’s Lakki Marwat district left seven soldiers dead, including an officer, Reuters reported.

The improvised explosive device exploded near the vehicle along the border with Afghanistan, an area known as a safe haven for Islamist militants, the source mentioned.

The tribal region has long been the site of conflict, with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) waging a war against the state in an effort to establish an Islamic state.

Islamabad has accused the TTP of operating from neighboring Afghanistan to carry out attacks inside Pakistan, a claim the Taliban has denied.
