Pakistan: Young Man, Businessman Gunned down by robbers in Karachi crime incidents

Two people have been killed in separate robbery attacks in Karachi, Pakistan, Dawn newspaper reported yesterday.

A 20-year-old man was shot dead after resisting a robbery near Nasir Jump, while a 65-year-old industrialist was gunned down by suspects who chased him down after he withdrew cash in Boat Basin.

This comes as the police have adopted an “aggressive strategy” to control the spike in street crimes, deploying additional forces and setting up checkpoints, the source mentioned.

The news agency added that recent reports indicate a significant surge in street crime in Karachi, with daily occurrences of theft and violence, citing murder-for-robbery of a 27-year-old gold medalist mechanical engineer and Hafiz Quran last week as a testament.
