Journalist Killed in Pakistan’s Sindh Province, Marking 5th Slain in 2024
A journalist in Pakistan’s Sindh province has died from gunshot wounds sustained in an attack earlier this week, the fifth media worker reported killed nationwide in 2024, VOA reported yesterday.
Nasrullah Gadani, who was critical of powerful feudal lords in the region, succumbed to his injuries in a Karachi hospital, the source mentioned.
Gadani’s death sparked outrage, with calls for justice and accountability, with rights groups, including HRCP, urging the government to investigate the killing.
The incident highlights the dangers faced by journalists in Pakistan, where the Committee to Protect Journalists is also pressing authorities over the disappearance of another reporter.
Gadani’s reporting had consistently highlighted civic issues in the impoverished Sindh province, leading to repeated detentions by police.
