Pakistan: Coal mine collapse leaves 12 killed in Harnai district

Twelve miners lost their lives and eight were rescued after an explosion in a coal mine in Balochistan’s Harnai district, Pakistan, Dawn website reported on Wednesday.

The miners were trapped after a big portion of the mine caved in when a powerful methane gas explosion took place overnight, the report confirmed.

Mine workers have complained that a lack of safety gear and poor working conditions are the main causes of frequent accidents, the article cited labor unions.
