……………..
Mahajanga, Madagascar witnessed its largest-ever symbolic march to commemorate the Arbaeen of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), an annual event organized by the office of Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi. The procession, which drew over 500 participants, including men, women, and youth, covered a six-kilometer route from the Ahlul Bayt office to the Ayatollah’s office, passing through the city center and reaching the international airport.
According to Sheikh Muhammad Radi Wasaram, the representative of the Grand Ayatollah in the city, the march showcased the unity of believers and their commitment to the path of Imam Hussein. Throughout the event, participants were provided with food and drink and distributed over 150 flags and banners inscribed with the slogan “Hussein Unites Us.”
They also handed out thousands of pamphlets in the local language to explain the significance of the pilgrimage to the general public. The procession also included a mourning ceremony in the Bahoro area, where a local resident hosted the gathering and offered meals.
The march concluded with a final mourning session at the Grand Ayatollah’s office, serving as a cultural message to introduce the local community in Madagascar to the values of sacrifice and redemption embodied by the epic of Karbala.
