The inclusion of ‘Qantara Al-Baidha’ in Karbala and ‘Al-Adheem Dam’ in Diyala to the World Heritage Irrigation Structures
The Iraqi Government Media Cell announced the inclusion of the archaeological Al-Adheem Dam and the Qantara Al-Baidha in Karbala to the World Heritage Irrigation Structures.
The Cell stated in a statement, “The archaeological Al-Adheem Dam in Diyala Province and the Al-Qantara Al-Baidha in Holy Karbala, were added to the World Heritage Irrigation Structures, during the meetings of the 73rd Executive Council of the International Organization for Irrigation and Drainage (ICID) on October 6th, in Adelaide, South Australia.”
It explained that “the tireless Iraqi efforts made by the responsible authorities culminated in this great Iraqi achievement.”
The Cell indicated that “what happened in Adelaide constitutes a great achievement for preserving the Iraqi heritage.”
