Several injured and trapped in rockslide west of holy Karbala

A rockslide occurred at the Droplet Site (Qattara) of Imam Ali, peace be upon him, west of holy Karbala, injuring 4 people and trapping 8 others, according to an initial outcome, as the Civil Defense Directorate has sent additional rescue teams to rescue the trapped.

A security source said in a statement, “A rockslide occurred west of Karbala at the Droplet Site (Qattara) of Imam Ali, peace be upon him, resulting in the injury of four people, as a preliminary outcome, who were transferred to Al-Hussein General Hospital.”

It stated, “There are 8 people who are still trapped under the rubble, while two of them have been rescued.”

The source explained, “The rescue teams are trying to rescue the trapped and are dealing in a technical way, because of the presence of rocks directed towards them and they are afraid that they will fall on them.”

The Directorate of Civil Defense had sent additional rescue teams to support the trapped from the collapse of Imam Ali’s Droplet Site in Karbala.
