Holy Najaf Province forms special committee to supervise the mourning ceremonies of Muharram

The Province of Holy Najaf announced the formation of a special committee to supervise the mourning ceremonies of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, during the holy month of Muharram.

The First Deputy Governor of Najaf, Hashem al-Qarawi, said in a statement received by Shia Waves News Agency, that “the committee will coordinate with the service departments, the holy shrines, and the Husseini processions, to provide services to pilgrims during the sorrowful days of the month of Muharram, and that there are security and service plans developed in preparation for the reception of the blessed month.”

Al-Qarawi added that the Operations Room will provide facilities for the mechanisms of government institutions and Husseini processions, to enter the old city and reach the Holy Shrine of Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib, peace be upon him, which witnesses the greatest momentum of the mourning processions and rituals during the first ten days of Muharram.
