Imam al-Kadhum Week: Commemoration of the birth anniversary of Imam Musa ibn Jafar al-Kadhum (peace be upon him)
The Imam Hussein Media Group has named the week from 20-26 of Dhu al-Hijjah as the Imam al-Kadhum Week, in commemoration of the birth anniversary of Imam Musa ibn Jafar, peace be upon him.
In the historical books, the exact date of birth of Imam al-Kadhum, peace be upon him, was not specified, but Shia jurists and scholars throughout history announced the days of the birth of Imam al-Kadhum, peace be upon him, to be on the last ten of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah.
Imam Musa ibn Jafar (peace be upon him) was born on the last ten days of the month of Dhul-Hijjah in the year 128 AH in an area between Mecca and Medina called Abwa’.
The Supreme Religious Authority, Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi, referring to the narration of Imam Hassan al-Askari, peace be upon him, considered the birth of the seventh leader of the Muslims in the month of Dhul-Hijjah, and says that the Imam’s place of birth is further evidence that his birth was in the month of Dhu al-Hijjah.
Imam al-Kadhum’s mother was named Hamida, a noble lady whom Imam al-Sadiq (peace be upon him) talks about her purity and dignity and advised other women to learn religious rules from Hamida.
Imam Musa ibn Jafar (peace be upon him) was famous among the public for spending his night worshipping the Almighty.
He showed tolerance and patience in front of his enemies and aggressors, thus he was called al-Kadhum.
Today, his holy shrine in Kadhumayn city is a refuge for the oppressed, and his virtues and miracles made him ‘The Door to Fulfilling People’s Need’.
Every year, the houses of religious authorities, Shia scholars, and the general Shias around the world celebrate the birth anniversary of the seventh caliph of the Messenger of God, Imam al-Kadhum, peace be upon him.
On this occasion, Imam Hussein Media Group chose the week of Dhul-Hijjah 20-26 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Imam Musa ibn Jafar, peace be upon him.
