Iraq calls on all countries to withdraw their nationals from the Syrian Al-Hol camp
The Iraqi National Security Adviser, Qassem al-Araji, called on all countries to withdraw their nationals from the Syrian al-Hol camp, considering that the camp poses a threat to Iraq.
This came during Al-Araji’s discussion with a delegation of the UN Security Council to combat terrorism.
Al-Araji’s media office said, in a statement, that the latter chaired a joint meeting between the Iraqi side, from the security and intelligence services, and the delegation of the Executive Directorate of the UN Security Council to Combat Terrorism, which is visiting Iraq for the period from 3-7 July 2022.
He added that the meeting witnessed a discussion of international and regional cooperation in the issues of combating terrorism, and discussing the issues of foreign terrorists, ways to hold them accountable, and the application of the principle of non-impunity.
The office indicated that “Al-Araji stressed during the meeting that Iraq is the first line of resistance in the world in the fight against terrorism, and made great sacrifices in the face of the danger of terrorist groups,” stressing that the fatwa of Sufficient Jihad had a major role in defeating ISIS terrorists.”
He pointed out that this was achieved with the determination and valor of the Iraqi security forces of all kinds, stressing the importance of the international community continuing its support for Iraq, especially in ending the file of the Syrian al-Hol camp, and for countries to respond by withdrawing their nationals from the camp, to end its threat and danger to Iraq.
