Iran’s Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization announced that the total number of crossings by Arbaeen pilgrims through the country’s six designated border terminals exceeded 5.2 million movements by the end of August 3, 2026, reflecting the large-scale flow of visitors traveling to the holy sites in Iraq.

According to official data, significant numbers of pilgrims continued to pass through Iran’s border crossings during the Arbaeen season, as relevant authorities intensified efforts to facilitate border procedures and provide transportation and logistical services for both departing and returning visitors.

Iranian border terminals witness exceptional activity every year during the Arbaeen pilgrimage season, with millions of pilgrims arriving from different Iranian cities, in addition to visitors from other countries who use Iran as a transit route to reach the holy city of Karbala.

Government and service institutions have been working to manage the movement of pilgrims and provide essential services, including transportation, guidance, and healthcare support, in order to ensure smooth travel throughout the pilgrimage period.
