Iraq Reports Decline in ISIS Online Recruitment Efforts
……………

Iraq’s Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee announced on Friday a significant decline in the effectiveness of online recruitment by ISIS and other extremist groups, describing it as evidence of the country’s progress in countering modern tools of terrorism.

A committee member said extremist groups had long relied on social media platforms to attract and radicalize young people, but recent months have seen a sharp drop in impact due to intensified efforts by security and judicial authorities.

The dismantling of media cells that supported recruitment operations and the exposure of foreign agendas behind such groups were cited as key factors in weakening their influence.

The official added that growing public awareness and rejection of extremist ideology now serve as a strong barrier against renewed recruitment attempts. He stressed that the violent scenarios witnessed in June 2014 are unlikely to recur, as integrated security measures have strengthened stability despite lingering threats from sleeper cells.
