SDF Launches Major Operation to Root Out ISIS Cells in Hasakah

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced Saturday the start of a large-scale security operation targeting hidden cells of the extremist Sunni group ISIS in and around the city of Hasakah.

According to a statement published by the SDF’s media center, cited by Rudaw, the operation aims to identify ISIS hideouts and logistical networks, while preventing potential plots to attack prisons and detention centers.

Middle East News reported that the SDF stressed the operation is being conducted with precise intelligence support to avoid harm to civilians.

The SDF reaffirmed that eliminating ISIS terrorism remains one of its top priorities and called on residents of Hasakah to report suspicious activity to help maintain security and stability in the region.
