Russian Muslims Protest Ban on Islamic Encyclopedia in North Caucasus
———————————-
Muslim organizations in Russia, along with the publisher of the book “Islam in the North Caucasus”, have formally appealed a Moscow court ruling banning the work.

According to BBC News, the encyclopedia is the result of over a decade of academic research, offering a comprehensive overview of Islam and the cultural-linguistic diversity of the North Caucasus region.

Prosecutors justified the ban by citing two articles they claim have links to terrorist groups, leading to the suspension of the book’s distribution.

The publisher and Muslim organizations argue that the decision undermines both scholarly integrity and freedom of publication. They plan to challenge the ruling in higher courts in an effort to protect the encyclopedia’s academic credibility and preserve the right to publish it.
