Iraq Reduces Number of Displacement Camps
———————————
Iraq’s Ministry of Migration and Displacement announced a significant reduction in the number of displacement camps, dropping from 172 to just 22, Shia Waves Persian reported citing the Middle East News.

Deputy Minister Karim Al-Nouri said obstacles such as destroyed homes, limited job opportunities, and tribal conflicts have slowed the return of displaced families to their original areas.

The official Iraqi News Agency reported that most of the remaining camps are located in Erbil and Duhok, currently hosting around 18,000 families.

The development reflects ongoing efforts by the Iraqi government to close camps and facilitate reintegration, though challenges persist in rebuilding infrastructure and restoring livelihoods in war-affected regions.
