Iraq’s Interior Minister Reviews Security Plans in Babil for Arbaeen Pilgrimage

Iraq’s Interior Minister and head of the High Security Committee for mass pilgrimages, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, chaired a security meeting in Babil province on Saturday as part of preparations for the Arbaeen pilgrimage. The meeting, held at Babil Police Headquarters with the head of the services committee and senior security officials, reviewed the implementation of the organizational plan for the annual religious event.
Al-Shammari noted that Babil is witnessing a sharp increase in the number of pilgrims, with the peak period now underway, comparable to the high turnout in Karbala. He said all provincial resources have been mobilized and reinforced with additional security units from outside the province, supported by extensive intelligence operations.
The minister instructed intensified efforts to prevent road accidents and ensure strict adherence to the security plan. He also met with local authorities to address logistical needs and discussed the reverse flow of pilgrims after the ceremonies conclude.
