Iraqi border forces and various security agencies are in heightened states of readiness to ensure the safety and smooth passage of millions of pilgrims expected to participate in the upcoming Arbaeen pilgrimage, local news agencies reported.

Iraqi Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shammari recently confirmed the country’s full preparedness to host pilgrims, emphasizing the mobilization of all security and service capabilities. This announcement came during a meeting with deputy interior ministers from Iran and Pakistan, highlighting ongoing regional cooperation for the pilgrimage.

Preparations extend to border crossings, with officials at the Haji Omaran crossing in Erbil’s Soran district anticipating thousands of Iranian pilgrims starting July 28. Authorities have equipped rest stations and arranged bus transport from the border to Erbil before pilgrims continue their journey south. Furthermore, the Iraqi air force will provide security cover, and extensive intelligence and security efforts are underway to monitor pilgrim routes and border areas.
