Iraq Arrests Seven Suspected ISIS Members Across Three Provinces

Iraqi security forces arrested seven suspected Islamic State (ISIS) militants in operations across Anbar, Kirkuk, and Nineveh provinces, Rudaw reported.
These arrests were made through well-planned ambushes and raids targeting terrorist locations. The suspects are wanted under Article 4 of the Counter-Terrorism Law, which imposes severe penalties for terrorism-related offenses, including the death sentence.
The arrested individuals are believed to have participated in various attacks against Iraqi security forces. Despite ISIS being declared territorially defeated in 2017, the group continues to conduct bombings and hit-and-run attacks in several regions. Iraqi security forces have intensified operations against ISIS remnants, especially in disputed territories between Baghdad and Erbil.
Iraq’s air force also conducts airstrikes against ISIS hideouts in these areas. Recently, officials stated that most of ISIS has been eradicated, with only a few hundred militants remaining in remote locations.
