Pakistani Farmers Struggle as Costs Rise, Crop Prices Fall

Pakistani farmers are facing a financial crisis: Production costs for crops like wheat and cotton have doubled in a year due to rising prices for fertilizers, fuel, and electricity. At the same time, government policies and imports have driven down crop prices by 25%, Khaama Press reported today.

According to the report, this double blow has left farmers struggling to make ends meet. Many are forced to sell their crops at a loss due to a lack of storage and a decline in government support. Delays in fertilizer distribution and high prices are further impacting productivity, raising concerns about future food shortages.

Experts warn that the situation is unsustainable and threatens the country’s food security. Farmers’ unions are urging the government to take immediate action, including providing financial assistance and ensuring timely access to affordable fertilizers.
