Armed attack on pilgrims of Shah Cheragh Shrine in Shiraz, Iran
Yesterday, at exactly 5:45 pm, gunshots were fired at the pilgrims of the shrine of Ahmad ibn Musa, brother of Imam Redha, peace be upon him, in Shiraz, Iran.
At least 15 pilgrims, including two children, were killed and 40 other pilgrims were injured.
The Imam Hussein Media Group denounces this terrorist attack and demands a comprehensive investigation process into this terrorist operation and that appropriate measures be taken against its criminals.
This is not the first time that Shia shrines have been attacked, the Holy Shrine of Imam Redha, peace be upon him, was blown up in 1994, which resulted in the martyrdom of 26 people and the injury of 300 others on Ashura. The al-Askariyain Holy Shrine in Samarra, Iraq, has been bombed twice, in 2005 and 2006.
Eyewitnesses and local news agencies reported that the number of terrorists involved in the Shah Cheragh Shrine attack was three, and they reported the arrest of two people and the escape of the third person.
Mizan News Agency, which is affiliated with the Iranian judicial branch, described this attack as a terrorist attack.
Photos released by Amaq News Agency are circulating on social media and online, saying that Sunni extremist groups and ISIS have accepted responsibility for the attack.
