Explosions were reported in several cities across southern Iran on Thursday, including Bushehr, Choghadak, Konarak, Bandar Abbas and Chabahar, according to Iranian media reports.
Mehr News Agency reported that six explosions were heard in Bushehr and Choghadak, while three explosions were heard in Konarak in Sistan and Baluchestan province. Reports also mentioned explosions in Bandar Abbas and Chabahar.
The incidents came amid renewed military tensions between Iran and the United States, following reports of fresh strikes and counterstrikes that have further strained a fragile ceasefire agreement.
Reuters reported that Iranian armed forces had launched attacks on U.S. military infrastructure in Gulf states after U.S. strikes on Iran’s southern coastal and eastern provinces. Iranian media later reported multiple explosions in southern Iran, including Bushehr, where one of Iran’s nuclear power plants is located.
A local official told Iranian state media that a U.S. projectile had struck the perimeter area of the Bushehr nuclear facility. No confirmed details have yet been released regarding casualties or damage from the reported explosions.
The U.S. military did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the reports. Iranian authorities have not yet issued a full official statement clarifying the scale of the explosions or their targets.
