US, Israel Preparing for Fresh Strikes on Iran

US and Israeli officials are intensifying military preparations for renewed strikes against Iran, according to a report on Saturday.

The New York Times reported on Saturday that the United States and Israel are making extensive preparations for a possible resumption of military strikes against Iran as early as next week, citing two Middle East officials familiar with the discussions.

According to the report, the preparations are described as the largest military coordination efforts between Washington and Tel Aviv since the cease-fire between the sides took effect earlier this year.

Israeli broadcaster Mako separately reported that Donald Trump is expected to meet senior advisers within the next 24 hours to review options related to Iran and decide whether additional military action should proceed.

The New York Times said that, if approved, potential operations could include broader strikes targeting Iranian military positions, infrastructure facilities and strategic assets connected to Tehran’s regional operations.

US officials cited in the report also said another option under consideration involves deploying Special Operations forces to target nuclear materials believed to be stored deep underground inside Iran.

According to the report, several hundred US Special Operations personnel were deployed to the region in March to provide Washington with rapid-response operational capabilities if military escalation becomes necessary.

The latest reports come as Iran recently announced new restrictions in the Strait of Hormuz, saying it would no longer allow what Tehran described as enemy military shipments and weapons cargo to pass through the strategic waterway.

Iranian officials have also warned that the situation in the Strait of Hormuz will not return to pre-war conditions following the recent conflict involving Iran, Israel and the United States, increasing concerns over regional shipping and global energy supplies.

The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most sensitive maritime chokepoints, carrying a significant share of global oil exports and serving as a key route for international commercial shipping.
