Islamic organizations in Australia and Southeast Asia are set to convene an international youth summit aimed at strengthening Islamic identity and developing young leaders across the region.

The Islamic Council of Queensland, in cooperation with the Australian National Imams Council, the Regional Da‘wah Council for Southeast Asia and the Pacific, and the International Institute of Advanced Islamic Studies in Malaysia, will host ASEAMYS 2026 under the theme Australian and Southeast Asian Muslim Youth Summit. The two-day conference will be held in Brisbane, the capital of Queensland.

Organizers said the summit will serve as a platform for dialogue and knowledge-sharing, focusing on leadership development, awareness of Islamic identity, and empowering Muslim youth to play a positive and constructive role in their societies.

The event will bring together international and Australian speakers, community leaders, and youth delegates from Australia, Southeast Asia, and the South Pacific, including Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand. Participants will share experiences and discuss key challenges facing Muslim youth in their respective countries.

Conference sessions and workshops will address contemporary issues such as subtle workplace discrimination, the generation gap, housing affordability, family management, substance abuse, negative digital habits, and growing environmental challenges.

The summit also aims to revive student activism and strengthen networking among Islamic youth groups by promoting experience-sharing, building sustainable partnerships, and fostering unity and cooperation. Youth delegates are expected to present reports and practical proposals on wellbeing, civic engagement, education, and employment, contributing to the development of a socially responsible new generation of Muslim leaders in Australia and the wider region.
