Iran Build over 10 Kilometers of Wall Along Afghanistan Border

Iran has completed over 10 kilometers of a wall along its border with Afghanistan, Khaama Press reported yesterday citing Nozer Nemati, Deputy Commander of the Iranian Ground Forces.

On September 23, Iran’s state news agency reported plans for an additional 50 kilometers of wall construction. Nemati stated that this initiative aims to enhance security, prevent human trafficking, and boost the economy by controlling cross-border movements.

Approximately 20 workshops are currently engaged in infrastructure projects related to the wall. Iran has intensified these efforts in recent months to combat drug trafficking and illegal migration. However, the construction raises concerns for neighboring countries, particularly Afghanistan, as stricter border controls are implemented. Additionally, both Iran and Pakistan have been involved in the forced deportation of Afghan refugees, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis faced by those fleeing instability in their homeland.
