Egypt has inaugurated its first Museum of Quran Reciters at the Egypt Cultural and Islamic Center in the New Administrative Capital near Cairo.
According to IQNA, the opening ceremony was held on December 15, 2025, in the presence of Minister of Culture Ahmed Fouad Heno and Minister of Awqaf Osama Al-Azhari.
The museum was officially opened by Culture Minister Heno and is dedicated to celebrating Egypt’s spiritual and cultural heritage while honoring the country’s most renowned Quran reciters. Following the inauguration, the two ministers toured the museum’s various sections.
The museum houses personal works and memorabilia belonging to 11 prominent Egyptian qaris, including Muhammad Rifa’at, Abdul Fattah Shasha’ei, Taha Al-Fashni, Mustafa Ismail, Mahmoud Khalil Al-Husari, Muhammad Siddiq Minshawi, Abu al-Ainain Shuaisha, Mahmoud Ali Al-Banna, Abdul Basit Abdul Samad, Muhammad Mahmoud Tablawi, and Ahmed Al-Ruzifi. Family members of the late reciters attended the opening ceremony.
Designed by engineer Karim Al-Shapouri, the museum features four main halls displaying manuscripts, rare materials, and Quranic licenses donated by Al-Azhar. It also includes a dedicated listening hall where visitors can hear selected recitations.
Speaking at the ceremony, Al-Azhari said the museum marks an important step in preserving Egypt’s moderate religious identity and honoring the voices that conveyed the Quran to generations, while promoting values of beauty, humility, and moderation.
