Philippines Launches Month-Long Free Health Program for Citizens in Bahrain

The Philippines has launched a month-long health-screening program for its citizens working in Bahrain, aiming to promote wellness among the approximately 57,000 Filipinos residing in the Gulf nation, Arab News reported. This initiative, dubbed “Healthy Pinoy,” is a collaborative effort between the Philippine Embassy in Bahrain and the Al-Hilal Healthcare Group.
Throughout August, Filipino workers can access free blood testing and doctor consultations at all nine Al-Hilal Healthcare Group hospitals across Bahrain, including locations in Manama, Muharraq, and Askar. This includes tests for blood sugar, cholesterol, uric acid, and screenings for kidney and liver function, along with complimentary medical evaluations.
According to Consul Bryan Baguio from the Philippine Embassy, this marks the second year of the program, which has significantly expanded its reach. In 2024, the initiative served about 1,000 Filipinos at a single hospital. With increased locations and added free doctor consultations this year, embassy officials anticipate greater participation.
On the campaign’s opening day, the embassy also hosted a consular outreach mission, offering various services to workers. Consul Baguio emphasized the importance of this timing, noting that Friday is a rest day for many Filipinos, providing a convenient opportunity to access both health services and consular assistance. The embassy highlights health as a top priority for Filipinos in Bahrain, reinforcing its commitment to their well-being.
