Afghanistan: Flash floods kill 31, leave 100 missing
Thirty-one people were killed in heavy rains that caused flash floods in northern Afghanistan, the state news agency said Monday.
The Bakhtar news agency reported that the floods that occurred on Sunday in the northern Parwan province killed women and children, in addition to injuring 17 people.
The agency indicated that at least 100 people are still missing, as search and rescue operations are still underway.
The rains also caused dozens of houses to be washed away in three affected areas, according to the agency.
The local meteorological department said more rain is expected in the coming days in most of Afghanistan’s 34 provinces.
