Local sources in Daikundi province report the detention of a senior educational official following a dispute over school curricula, raising concerns about religious and educational freedoms in Afghanistan.

According to Asia News, Taliban intelligence forces arrested Nazer Ja‘fari, the education officer for Sangtakht and Bandar districts, after he refused orders to collect textbooks on Ja‘fari fiqh from local educational centers. The arrest reportedly took place at his workplace on Tuesday, and no official updates on his current condition have been released.

Sources also indicate that Ja‘fari’s family in Bamyan province is under supervision and movement restrictions. Previously, he served in educational roles in Bamyan and was a well-known figure in local social affairs.

The incident comes amid growing concerns over pressure on educational content related to Ja‘fari fiqh in certain Afghan regions, reflecting increasing tensions over religious and academic expression.
