Pakistan deported more than 3,100 Afghan nationals within a 24-hour period as part of an ongoing crackdown on undocumented migrants, Amu TV reported. According to the Taliban’s commission for refugees, 3,159 Afghans were expelled on Sunday, Dec. 7, through multiple border points, including Torkham, Spin Boldak, Bahramcha, Pul-e Abrisham and Islam Qala.

Another 190 Afghans returned from Iran, both voluntarily and under compulsion. The figure follows the deportation of 2,843 Afghans the previous day. Islamabad has intensified detentions and removals in recent weeks, particularly after deadly border clashes in October that left at least 37 people dead. Authorities have also expanded operations in major urban centres, including the capital.

Despite brief reopenings, several crossings remain largely limited to deportation traffic. Pakistani media reported that the Chaman crossing stayed closed on Saturday after overnight gunfire, leaving hundreds of travellers and traders stranded as security forces on both sides reinforced positions.
