Local sources in Herat reported that Taliban authorities detained blogger Aliya Malorin on October 23 while she was at the “Sadf Tower” restaurant. Witnesses said she was physically assaulted during the arrest and later transferred to Herat Central Prison.

Malorin gained prominence on social media after Taliban restrictions barred women from most forms of employment, using online platforms to promote businesses, clinics, restaurants, and educational centers. She had reportedly faced detention by Taliban members on earlier occasions.

So far, there has been no official comment from Taliban officials. The arrest comes amid a growing online presence of foreign bloggers in Afghanistan, alongside the frequent media appearances of Taliban leaders.
