Afghan Activists Urge UN to Halt Hazara Displacement and Land Seizures
…………….

Over 100 Afghan civil society groups and human rights activists have called on the United Nations to intervene urgently to stop the systematic displacement and land seizures targeting the Hazara community by the Taliban and nomadic Kuchi groups. In an open letter to the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), the activists expressed deep concern over violent repression and harassment, citing the recent forced eviction of 25 Hazara families from Rashak village in Bamiyan province.

The displaced families are currently living in temporary shelters or a mosque under strict Taliban surveillance, with some fleeing to avoid arrest. The letter accuses the Taliban of using sham trials and forged documents to legitimize land confiscations, while ignoring complaints and failing to investigate attacks on Hazaras.

Activists urge UN bodies to pressure the Taliban to restore stolen lands, compensate victims, halt security monitoring of displaced families, and establish an international accountability mechanism to document abuses. They warn that inaction could lead to further collective punishment and persecution of the Hazara community.
