Indonesia Donates $3.5 Million to WFP for School Feeding in Afghanistan

Indonesia has contributed $3.5 million to the World Food Programme (WFP) to support a school feeding program in Afghanistan, Khaama Press reported. The donation will provide protein- and vitamin-fortified biscuits to approximately 200,000 primary school students, including both boys and girls, for a period of three months.
The funding will enable the WFP to purchase over 1,200 metric tons of these nutritious biscuits. Rina Setiawati, Director of International Development Cooperation at Indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that the goal of this contribution is to ensure that schoolchildren receive the necessary nutrition to secure a brighter future.
According to the WFP Deputy Country Director in Afghanistan, for many of these children, the snack is the only nutritious meal they receive all day. The program is strategically focused on regions with chronic food insecurity, high rates of malnutrition, and low school enrollment, with the aim of improving children’s health and learning capacity while also encouraging better school attendance.
