Boat Accident Leaves 20 Dead, Including Children, in Afghanistan’s Nangarhar

At least 20 people, including children, tragically lost their lives when a boat capsized during a river crossing in Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province, Al Jazeera reported.

The vessel, carrying approximately 25 individuals, overturned in the Basawul area of Momand Dara district around 7 AM local time on Saturday.

The cause of the boat accident is currently under investigation, the source mentioned, adding that search and rescue efforts are ongoing, with medical teams and ambulances deployed to the scene.

Sadly, this incident is the latest in a series of deadly floods that have ravaged different parts of Afghanistan in recent weeks, claiming hundreds of lives.

The absence of bridges has forced many residents to rely on makeshift boats for transportation, putting them at great risk.
