At least 20 killed in suicide bombing in Afghan city of Kandahar

A suicide bombing in front of a bank in Afghanistan’s Kandahar city on Thursday left at least 20 people dead and 30 others wounded, local police and hospital officials confirmed.

On its Telegram channel, the ISIS group claimed responsibility for the explosion which took place at around 8:00am targeting a group of people waiting outside the New Kabul Bank branch in central Kandahar city.

The Islamic State – Khorasan Province (ISIS–K), a rival of the Taliban, has been behind several attacks across Afghanistan, targeting schools, hospitals, mosques, and predominantly Shiite areas.
