Afghanistan: Blast from unexploded ordnance kills 2 children in Paktia

Two children lost their lives and four others sustained injuries in an explosion caused by unexploded ordnance in the Jani Khel district of Paktia Province on Saturday, as stated by the Taliban.

The Taliban’s security command in Paktia confirmed that the incident occurred within a house in the Jani Khel district.

The injured individuals were subsequently taken to a hospital in the neighboring Khost province, the Taliban statement added.

Tragically, unexploded ordnance continues to tragically claim the lives of numerous children in Afghanistan every year.

Afghanistan has been identified by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) as one of the most heavily contaminated countries with landmines and unexploded ordnance.
