Writers, journalists and bloggers on social media condemned the contradiction of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in its dealing with the great Islamic monuments and archaeological sites.
At a time when Saudi Arabia witnessed the destruction of the graves of the Holy Prophet’s family, peace be upon them, by terrorists, the Kingdom did not rebuild them as Islamic monuments sacred to the vast majority of Muslims, but instead they turned towards Non-Islamic monuments, including the house of the British officer Thomas Edward, known as Lawrence of Arabia.
Telegraph newspaper revealed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is in the process of restoring the house of British intelligence officer.
Lawrence was briefly stationed in the port of Yanbu on the Red Sea during the Great Arab Revolt of 1916, when the port became an important supply base for British and Arab forces fighting the Ottoman Empire in World War I.
The mayor of Yanbu Ahmed al-Mahtout said that by the end of this year, the house may be ready to receive tourists, as part of a wider campaign for the Kingdom to attract more foreign visitors.
