The European-Saudi Organization for Human Rights has published a report, coinciding with the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture for 2020, explaining the use of various types of psychological and physical torture in the country’s prisons.
The human rights organization said the situation in Saudi Arabia makes it difficult to transparently access facts and figures related to detainees who die under torture.
The organization held the official authorities fully responsible, including the Presidency of State Security, which was established in mid-2017 by royal decree, and belongs directly to King Salman, due to cases of torture, medical neglect or ill-treatment in prisons, as well as ambiguous cases.
