Muslims worldwide celebrate Eid al-Adha

10th of Dhu Hijjah, or the day of Eid al-Adha, is one of the 4 major Islamic holidays.

According to narrations, on this day, the Almighty God commanded Prophet Ibrahim, peace be upon him, to sacrifice his son Ismail for the sake of God.

He took Ismail to the altar, but the angel of revelation came down with a “ram” and told Ibrahim to sacrifice that ram instead of Ismail.

The tradition of sacrifice on the day of Eid al-Adha in the land of Mina commemorates that event.

In religious sources, special acts for the day and night of Eid al-Adha are mentioned. Among them is the visitation to Imam Hussain, peace be upon him, and reciting the Dua Nudbah and performing the Eid al-Adha prayer.

It is necessary to mention that according to the announcement of the Office of Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Sadiq Husseini al-Shirazi in the holy city of Qom, the Eid al-Adha prayer ceremony was held at 7:00 Qom time in the Grand Ayatollah’s house.

The joyous atmospheres and celebrations continue until the Greatest Eid, Eid al-Ghadir.

On behalf of Shia Waves News Agency, we would like to congratulate everyone on Eid al-Adha. Eid Mubarak!
