Adam Center in Karbala discusses hate speech against Islam and its values in France
Adam Center for Defending Rights and Freedoms discussed with a number of researchers, jurists, writers and specialists in legal affairs “hate speech against Islam and its values in France”, in light of the French President’s speech and the reactions that followed in the Islamic world.
The researcher at the center, Dr. Alaa Al-Husseini, said that many phrases were recently issued by the French President against the religion of Islam, without distinguishing between extremists and Muslims, and accusing Islam and its icons such as the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him and his progeny, which provoked the feelings of millions of people in France and around the world.
He added that the deliberate publication of caricatures offensive to the status of the Holy Prophet, peace be upon him and his progeny, by some French newspapers and groups and the support of the French president for this disgraceful behavior puts the relationship between France and Muslims at risk.
Al-Husseini asserted that most of the terrorist attacks have been falsely attributed to Islam and Muslims, whereas the right-wing movements in Europe are more extreme and inclined to criminality than some groups that deviated from Islam.
