Four Iraqi people from the same family were killed and wounded when a suspected ISIS bomb blast hit Diyala governorate Wednesday, a local official was quoted as saying.

Mohammed Deifan al-Obeidi, the head of al-Azeem’s provincial council, told Alghad Press that, “An explosive charge went off while a car carrying a local family was passing on an agriculture road on the outskirts of Albu Daan village, northeast of al-Azeem district.” “The explosion left a woman dead and three others wounded.”

“All the casualties were found to be from one family,” al-Obeidi pointed out. “The slain woman was moved to the forensic medicine department, while the injured were carried to a nearby hospital for treatment.”

In January 2015, Iraqi forces announced liberation of Diyala province from the so-called Islamic State extremist militants who proclaimed ana so-called “Islamic Caliphate” in Iraq and Syria in 2014.

The province has seen months of fighting between Iraqi troops and ISIS militants especially in the Jalawla and Saadiyah areas in the province’s north and areas near the town of Muqdadiyah.
