13 international human rights organizations jointly sent a letter to Bahraini authorities calling for the release of all political prisoners in the Arab country.
The letter slammed the terrible conditions the human rights activists and other political prisoners are undergoing, the Manama Post reported.
It also called for providing the prisoners with necessary medical care and allowing their families to visit their loved ones.
In 2011, the political environment that sparked the Arab Spring reached the island kingdom, and the Shias in Bahrain comprised a majority of the protestors. After a few weeks of demanding greater economic opportunities including jobs, housing, and political rights, the protestors were met with a violent crackdown by Bahraini police.
