Adam Center says Shia targeting in Egypt gives wrong message to extremists in the country

After the conclusion of Arbaeen Pilgrimage, Cairo Airport officials arrested a group of 30 Shia Muslims returning from Holy Karbala and confiscated their passports.

The Airport officials last week arrested an Egyptian Shia activist after returning from Karbala and freed him after 3 hours of interrogation.

Adam Center for defending Human Rights and Freedom considered such procedures giving wrong messages for extremists to commit more crimes against innocent Shias like what happened with the late Shia cleric Hassan Shahata two years ago during Mohammad Morsi reign.

Adam Center warned from repeating the same mistakes committed by Egypt in the past regime which encouraged Salafi extremists to attack Shia civilians.

The center added that violating religious freedom in Egypt is a violation to all international human rights and freedoms.
