A human rights center sends a letter to Guterres on circumstances related to the arrest of Ayatollah Shirazi
Adam Center for the Defense of Rights and Freedoms have sent, yesterday, a letter to the UN Secretary-General, António Guterres, on the circumstances of the arrest of Ayatollah Sayyid Hussein Shirazi, the son of the supreme religious authority Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi, may Allah prolong his life, by Iranian authorities.
Adam Center for the Defense of Rights and Freedoms have sent, yesterday, a letter to the UN Secretary-General, António Guterres, on the circumstances of the arrest of Ayatollah Sayyid Hussein Shirazi, the son of the supreme religious authority Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi, may Allah prolong his life, by Iranian authorities.
The letter, addressed to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterich, said that “on March 6, 2008, at about 10 am, an Iranian intelligence force stopped the car carrying Ayatollah Sayyid Hussein al-Shirazi, who was with his father Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq al-Shirazi on Inqilab street in the holy city of Qom, where he was assaulted and draged by force in a harsh humiliating treatment, causing the fall of his turban, and then taken to detention in a secret place without clear or reasonable reasons that violate the obligations of Iran under the national and International laws.”
The letter stressed that “the ruling authorities in the Islamic Republic of Iran have violated the jus cogens rules contained in the international and national law. Therefore, we appeal to the United Nations, represented by your Excellency, for immediate intervention and demand that those authorities release Ayatollah Sayyid Hussein Shirazi.”
