An explosion ripped through PD2 in Jalalabad city, in the eastern Afghan province of Nangarhar, at about mid-day on Tuesday, killing at least three people, local officials confirmed.
Provincial governor’s spokesman Attaullah Khogyani said at least three people were killed in the blast, which happened in a busy market area, close to a bus station, in the city. Two others were wounded in the blast, Khogyani added. Substantial damage was caused to surrounding shops. However, local officials were not able to confirm the type of explosive device used nor was it immediately clear what the target was. No group including the Taliban has claimed responsibility for the blast yet. Both Taliban and Daesh are active in parts of Nangarhar province and in recent years many explosions have been carried out by Daesh militants. In most incidents civilians were the main victims.
