Shia Rights Watch International Organization has expressed its strong condemnation of the arbitrary verdicts issued by the Bahraini courts recently against a number of protesters, considering these trials illegal and lacking all standards of justice.

The organization said in a statement that it had seen the statement of the so-called fourth major criminal court, which sentenced two protesters to death,19 for life imprisonment, and dozens of others to different imprisonment periods.

The organization – which has been following the circumstances of the charges against the protesters, as well as following up the investigation procedures and issuing the verdicts against them – said that all the procedures lack legal legitimacy, pointing out that these verdicts came in accordance with previous political decisions aimed at punishing the Bahraini opposition, and standing against the popular will for political and economic reform in the country.

In the same context, Amnesty International has warned against the execution and expulsion of anti-regime activists in Bahrain, saying Manama is using such sentences as a tool to crush all forms of opposition.
